NewTech Services Middle East Delivers Three Consecutive High-Efficiency Shoe-to-Shoe Runs in Saudi Arabia
KINGDOM OF SAUDI ARABIA — September 2026 —
NewTech Services Middle East completed all three major drilling sections of the same well shoe to shoe, delivering consistently high performance across the 16-in, 12¼-in, and 8½-in intervals. Two of the three sections were the fastest among relevant offset wells, while the third achieved a high-efficiency run at an average rate of penetration (ROP) of 100.63 ft/hr.
The value of the result lies in the ability to sustain drilling efficiency across the full sequence of sections in a single well. Each interval presented different downhole conditions and operational constraints, requiring section-specific motor selection, bottom-hole assembly design, hydraulics, MWD configuration, and drilling parameters.
For the 16-in and 12¼-in sections, NewTech Services Middle East selected 9⅝-in high-torque PDMs, while the 8½-in section was drilled with a 6¾-in high-torque PDM.
During the planning phase, bottom-hole assembly designs were optimized to maximize drilling performance while maintaining vertical wellbore integrity. Hydraulics and torque-and-drag simulations were completed against rig capabilities, and the motor configurations, drilling parameters, and MWD programming were adjusted for the anticipated downhole conditions.
The MWD systems were configured for high flow rates and faster update rates, while bit selection was coordinated with bit suppliers through a defined bit roadmap. The execution plan also incorporated risk assessment and mitigation measures for the expected hole conditions.
Before drilling began, NewTech Services Middle East’s directional drilling and MWD crews completed a detailed pre-job review covering operational objectives, drilling parameters, and expected performance. During execution, the motors were operated at high differential pressures within the established drilling envelope, while optimized hole-cleaning and connection practices were used to maximize on-bottom drilling time.
Continuous coordination between the customer’s drilling engineering and operations teams and NewTech Services Middle East’s engineering, operations, directional drilling, and MWD personnel allowed performance to be monitored against the agreed key performance indicators throughout the program.
Performance Results
| Section | Services | Footage | Drilling Time | Average ROP | Result |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 16 in | Motor / MWD | 1,860 ft | 22.5 hr | 82.67 ft/hr | Fastest run among offset wells |
| 12¼ in | Motor / MWD | 2,415 ft | 24 hr | 100.63 ft/hr | High-efficiency run; no offset comparison available |
| 8½ in | Motor / MWD | 3,430 ft | 46.25 hr | 46.25 hr | Fastest run among offset wells |
The 16-in and 8½-in sections established the fastest reported runs among the relevant offset wells, while the 12¼-in section achieved an average ROP of 100.63 ft/hr despite the absence of a direct offset benchmark.
Taken together, the three shoe-to-shoe runs demonstrate more than individual section performance. They show that NewTech Services Middle East was able to maintain a consistently high level of drilling efficiency across the complete well section sequence, despite changing hole sizes, formation behavior, and operating constraints. Two record runs and one high-efficiency section within the same well provide a stronger measure of integrated drilling performance than any single result viewed in isolation.
